SouthDown Farms

Seth and Sheryl Long have been growing produce on their 55-acre farm since 1998.  Southdown, located in Ermine, Kentucky, started as a way for the family to grow their own fresh produce and to teach their kids about life on a farm.

Many of the 55 acres were not ideal for farming large amounts of produce, so the family was not able to expand their growing until 2016 when they were introduced to Market Gardening methods of growing, which are done on a small scale and sold directly to consumers.

In 2017, the Longs were introduced to methods of tapping into maple trees to obtain syrup.

Now, SouthDown Farms sells all sorts of fruits, vegetables, and maple syrup to the local community through a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) subscription program and at farmers markets.

There is also a farm store directly on the lands of SouthDown where they love to sell baked goods in addition to their produce.

SouthDown is certified Kentucky Proud, Appalachia Proud, and a member of the Kentucky Maple Syrup Association.
