Sunny Point Garden

Alan and Saundra Davis were photographers with a passion for horticulture and gardening.

With 14 acres of their own, they always did their own landscaping, but it didn't occur to them until later how much they missed the taste of homegrown vegetables that they grew up with.

In 2010 the couple installed a greenhouse and began to grow vegetables, but they soon realized it was far more than just the two of them could eat. So why not turn it into a business?

By 2011, the whole family (the Davis kids and their families) was in on the idea, and they were able to establish “Sunny Point Gardens.”  They grow hydroponic lettuce and salad greens, as well as a variety of berries and flowers.

The business was going so well that the Davis family was able to sell their photography business, which they had owned for 35 years, later in 2011.

Now, Saundra and Alan are full-time farmers providing fresh produce and flowers for themselves and local families through a Community Supported Agriculture program.
