Fairfield Farms Poultry

Fairfield Farms Poultry is located in Nelson County, and their egg-laying facility is in Washington County. They have 20,000 certified organic pasture-raised laying hens, and they sell eggs on contract. Most of the eggs go to Whole Foods grocery stores. The chickens lay an average of 16,000 eggs per day, and the chickens go outside on 50 acres of pasture each morning at 9 am.

Riney Dairy Farm

Billy Riney, Jr. purchased a dairy farm in Springfield in 1978.  His only experience in the dairy business was working on a dairy farm while studying agriculture at the University of Kentucky. Forty-two years later, his dairy farm is one of the few in the county. Riney Dairy continues to grow and currently milks 450 cows. His son John also works on the farm. Billy and John also raise most of their hay and feed crops on 1,500 acres of land.
