Jed Clark of Graves County Named 2023 Kentucky Farm Bureau Farmer of the Year

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) today announced that Jed Clark of Graves County has been selected as the 2023 KFB Farmer of the Year. Clark will be awarded the honor during the organization’s 104th annual meeting at the Galt House in Louisville later this year.

This annual KFB award recognizes an individual whose efforts strengthen the state’s agriculture industry and demonstrate service and leadership on and off the farm.

Clark has been farming in Mayfield, Kentucky, since 1998. He raises corn, soybeans, wheat, and tobacco across nearly three thousand acres and owns Seed Smart LLC, a seed and crop protectant dealership. He is active in the Graves County Farm Bureau, where he’s served as President since 2019.

Clark and his wife Chrissie have three children.

“Being a successful farmer goes beyond working fourteen-hour days and producing a high yield crop,” said Clark. “It is supporting the younger generation of farmers, taking time to educate consumers, and dedicating your time to ensure the future of agriculture. I am always honored to get to share our farming story.”

Clark has seen his fair share of farming challenges, including the devastating tornadoes that tore through Mayfield in 2021. When Mayfield Grain was destroyed, he had to start traveling much longer distances during harvest.

Like the entire agriculture industry, Clark persevered, nonetheless, and continues working hard each day.
