Farm Profiles

GreenHouse 17

GreenHouse 17 is much more than just a farm.

It is part of a non-profit organization and rehabilitation shelter that helps adult survivors of abuse rehabilitate in a natural environment.

The main shelter is surrounded by 40 acres of property which is farmed for produce and flowers, providing the farmers with work experience and new knowledge.

The fruits and vegetables feed people living in the shelter and are sold through Community Supported Agriculture.

Grown produce is also used when making GreenHouse 17 products like lip balm, soap, and candles.

Rolling Blue Farm

Nestled along Town Branch Creek, Rolling Blue Farm is operated by Jason, Heather, and Lillian Grace Whitis.

The land at Rolling Blue produces fruits and vegetables, and the water is used to raise saltwater shrimp.

There is always something to see at Rolling Blue, and the farming family wants their community to see how the food is being grown. Therefore, tours and visiting hours are always available.

Rolling Blue Farm produce and seafood are sold through Community Supported Agriculture and at the Lexington Farmers Market.

GreenLandingKY and Nanny’s Land Farm

GreeneLandingKY and Nanny’s Land Farm are both owned and operated by Leavell-Greene, a family mother and son-duo. GreeneLanding is located in Cadentown, which is one of the twenty-five rural African-American hamlets formed in Fayette County after the Civil War. This will be the third growing season while additionally providing educational experiences for the local conservation summer youth program. Nanny’s Land is in its second year in Anderson County. Some of the 2022 highlights will include strawberries, peppers, tomatoes, green beans, sunflowers, and Zinnias.

CSA shares will be available in late May or June and will run to September.

A CSA can be a one-time share, or it can be as many weekly pick-ups needed as long as the produce is harvested and available. Customers can pick up in Lawrenceburg and Lexington upon agreed schedules. CSA home delivery will be available in those areas with an upcharge for mileage variances. To purchase a share or learn more, please visit GreeneLanding KY.
